Not far from the bustling city of Cape Town, you’ll find yourself in the Cape Winelands, an area not only known for its award-winning wines, but also for its beauty. The Cape Winelands consist of 5 key regions: Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, Paarl and the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. All reagions are steeped in a rich history, with some farms dating as far back as 1685. Although there are far countless beautiful farms to discover, here is my list of my personal favourites.

Whether you’re a foodie, hunting for souvenirs, shopping for hand-crafted jewellery and unique clothes or stocking up on local fresh produce, Cape Town’s markets has something for everyone! Here, locals and tourists mingle and soak up the relaxed weekend vibes.

Starting at the foot of the Long Tom Pass in the South and ending at the border between the provinces of Mpumalanga and Limpopo, the Panorama Route is undoubtedly one of South Africa’s most scenic routes and at the top of the bucket list for many first-time visitors to the country. Following the contours of the Great Escarpment that seperates the Low- and Highveld, the Panorama Route features man breathtaking natural landmarks and historic sites.

They have been implemented to ensure the safety of visitors and nature alike and to preserve this wonderful piece of nature for generations to come.

For many people visiting South Africa, the Kruger National Park is at the very top of their bucket list. And rightfully so! The Kruger Park is one of Africa’s largest national parks and is home to diverse animal and plant species. It is here, where tourists can experience untouched African nature and come up close with the Big 5. Whether driving on your own or with a tour group, staying in one of the restcamps or only entering the Park for a day, a visit is always worthwhile!

While stationed there, you spend almost all your time in the bunkers 30m underground, going about day to day life with 630 other men and waiting for the Germans to attack.
